Spiderweb walls

Ava's standing in our future master bedroom, which has acoustic insulation "webbing" installed. This was a couple of days ago before the insulation was packed in. It looked like we were standing in a huge spiderweb!

Below is the same room today (viewed from other side) with the insulation blown into the walls. I stitched two photos together so it looks a little Alice-in-Wonderlandish. And the pocket door frames aren't yet installed so the doorways to the bath and closet are doubly wide.

Not only are the walls no longer "see-thru", but if you stand in the room, you really can't hear the rest of the house unless someone is shouting...exactly how we wanted it to be since the kitchen, dining, and living room are right on the other side of the bedroom wall. Notice we insulated the ceiling, too, since Ava's room is right above, and one day she'll be a teenager blasting her music...then we'll really appreciate the investment!

Notice the white dots in the photo. The insulation is made of paper cellulose (treated so it doesn't burn), and it's still floating around everywhere. Next week it'll only get worse when the drywall starts getting hung up and sanded. Happily, Ava and I are taking a short vacation to Jackman, Maine, next week. Can't wait to relax!
