The flooring started being put in last Thursday and they are half-done with the main level already (floating floor - no glue, no nails!). It is an engineered bamboo floor and the planks just click together. Here are a couple of pics:
This weekend, Ava and I worked hard to get her room painted. It needs a finish touch-up or two, but the colors are looking great! She picked out the colors herself (though mom nixed the idea of painting EVERY wall that dark blue color below - we limited that to the wall her bed will be against). The colors were picked to match her new bedding, which Auntie Michelle found for us at Sears. Ava knew months ago that she wanted a BLUE room. Michelle found bedding that's mostly blue and green but is clearly for a girl. Thanks, Michelle!
She calls this her "Buzz Lightyear" pose (Buzz Lightyear is an astronaut character in the movie "Toy Story")...not sure why. She also serenaded me with a bunch of made-up songs on her "breaks" from painting (frequent). Her singing style is a cross between Broadway and Thomas the Tank Engine: lots of "you can do it! Laaaa!"
During a lunch break on Saturday on our future screen porch, we all watched this thunderstorm move in across the valley...ominous clouds, lighting strikes from afar, and veils of rain inched ever closer until it finally hit us. Quite a deluge, but at least it kept the house cool for the painting.
